C.F. Koehnen & Sons Carniolan Queen Bee
The Koehnen's are one of the premier queen rearing families in the US. Here's what they have to say about their Carniolan queens.
"At the request of beekeepers in colder climates of the Northern states, we also produce the Carniolan cross. Our Carniolan breeders are mated in an isolated area and observed for a year prior to use in our breeding program. The Carniolan virgins are mated with our Italian drones, resulting in an excellent mix of both Italian and Carniolan traits which many customers prefer. The queen exhibits typical Carniolan overwintering behavior, and her offspring possess the gentleness of our Italians."
We keep our queens in a well-fed queen bank at one of our apiaries. We do this to ensure that the queens are as healthy as possible. Because we only bring in enough queens to fulfill the day's orders, you must order them in advance either through our website or via phone
Queens purchased through our website will be collected from our apiary and brought to To Bee or Not To Bee the next day we are open. You must pick up your queen on that day. Refunds will not be given for queens not picked-up on time.
If you order a queen bee through our website, you must choose the in-store pickup option during the checkout process. We do not ship bees. Your queen will be at To Bee or Not To Bee the first day following your order, provided that the store is open. For example; queens ordered Monday will be in-store on Tuesday. Because the store is closed on Wednesday, queens ordered Tuesday and Wednesday will be available Thursday.
Returns or refunds are not possible for queens
