Marked C.F. Koehnen & Sons Cordovan Italian Queen Bee
The Koehnen's are one of the premier queen rearing families in the US. Here's what they have to say about their Cordovan Italian queens.
"We've been producing Italian Queens since the 30s. However, our Cordovan breeding project began in approximately 1975. Our Italians have been exclusively lighter colored Cordovans ever since, with color ranging from light yellow to rust. They have many fine qualities: the queens are very prolific, known for their rapid Spring buildup, and they are extremely gentle. They are proven to be very hygienic. Two-thirds of our production is this Italian. "
We keep our queens in a well-fed queen bank at one of our apiaries. We do this to ensure that the queens are as healthy as possible. Because we only bring in enough queens to fulfill the day's orders, you must order them in advance either through our website or via phone
Queens purchased through our website will be collected from our apiary and brought to To Bee or Not To Bee the next day we are open. You must pick up your queen on that day. Refunds will not be given for queens not picked-up on time.
If you order a queen bee through our website, you must choose the in-store pickup option during the checkout process. We do not ship bees. Your queen will be at To Bee or Not To Bee the first day following your order, provided that the store open. For example; queens ordered Thursday will be in-store on Friday. Because the store is closed on Tuesday, queens ordered Monday and Tuesday will be available Wednseday.
