Locally raised Queen Bee - Nimbus Road Apiary
Many people believe that locally raised queens are best adapted to survive the unique conditions of each environment.
These queens are raised by Dean Chapla of Nimbus Road Apiary in Longmont. These beautiful dark bees are a hybrid of Russian and Carniolan lines selected for mite resistance, wintering ability, and honey production. Dean has been selecting for queens that perform best in our area for the last eight years. Dean says, "I'm quite pleased with them."
Please note that mite-resistance does not mean mite-proof. Mite-resistant queens are only one part of a good IPM strategy
We keep our queens in a well-fed queen bank at one of our apiaries. We do this to ensure that the queens are as healthy as possible. Because we only bring in enough queens to fulfill the day's orders, you must order them in advance either through our website or via phone
Queens purchased through our website will be collected from our apiary and brought to To Bee or Not To Bee the next day we are open. You must pick up your queen on that day. Refunds will not be given for queens not picked-up on time.
If you order a queen bee through our website, you must choose the in-store pickup option during the checkout process. We do not ship bees. Your queen will be at To Bee or Not To Bee the first day following your order, provided that the store is open. For example; queens ordered Thursday will be in-store on Friday. Because the store is closed on Tuesday, queens ordered Monday and Tuesday will be available Wednesday.
Returns or refunds are not possible for queens
