Carniolans are known for their winter hardiness, rapid spring buildup, and exceptional honey production. They show excellent resistance to tracheal mites and are great comb builders. Olivarez Honey Bees has sources for instrumentally inseminated breeder queens (Strachan Apiaries “New World Carniolan”). The queens they produce from these breeders are open-mated with all of their stock for genetic diversity and hybrid vigor.

Carniolan traits:

• More likely to forage on cool, wet days than other bees
• Quick to brood up when nectar is available
• Excellent honey producers

If you order a queen bee through our website, you must choose the in-store pickup option during the checkout process. We do not ship bees. Your queen will be at To Bee or Not To Bee after noon the first day following your order, provided that the store is open. For example; queens ordered Wednesday will be in-store on Thursday. Because the store is closed on Wednesday, queens ordered Tuesday and Wednesday will be available Thursday after noon.
